Ondo State Forestry & Nature-Based Carbon Initiative

(Nigeria)

Large-Scale Forestry & Nature-Based Carbon Project in

Development

African Carbon Exchange (ACE), in collaboration with local

stakeholders and technical partners, is currently exploring the

development of a large-scale forestry and nature-based carbon

initiative within Ondo State, Nigeria.

The proposed pilot is being evaluated as a long-term landscape

restoration and climate resilience project designed to support

high-integrity carbon outcomes alongside broader environmental

and community benefits.

Located within one of Nigeria’s ecologically significant regions,

the initiative is expected to focus on:

• Forest conservation and restoration

• Nature-based carbon development

• Sustainable land stewardship

• Biodiversity and ecosystem protection

• Community-aligned climate impact initiatives

The project reflects ACE’s broader commitment to advancing

scalable, credible, and locally grounded climate solutions across

Africa.

Further details will be shared as development progresses and

stakeholder engagement advances
